Tanya is a licensed professional counselor, licensed chemical dependency counselor, and licensed sex offender treatment provider.  She received her Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University and a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lubbock Christian University.  Tanya has ten years of experience assisting incarcerated adults and youth, as well as helping individuals in inpatient and outpatient treatment settings.

Working as a substance abuse counselor, she has helped many individuals on their journey to recovery with the recognition that drug and alcohol abuse serve as a means of self-medication for the underlying issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.  Tanya has experience conducting assessments, collaborating with clients to work on targeted goals, facilitating groups, and providing case management services.

Tanya is client-centered and has experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and with Seeking Safety. She is currently developing a more eclectic approach with a focus on trauma.  Tanya is a recent addition to the West Texas Counseling and Guidance team and is currently working out of the San Angelo location on the 6^th floor.
